Upgrading Older Themes / Objects to DX 3

Greetings -

I have been playing with OD on and off for a few years, but have mostly been "off" for the past couple. Now I find myself with a shiny new 3.0 version of DX, but a lot of old themes and objects from previous versions, some of which I would like to update to work with DX 3. When I try to load most of these I get errors related to the old plugins, such as DXtoys. Some of them will open anyway, in "compatability mode," where I can at least get at them and see their properties and make changes, but with DXToys especially, and I think a couple other old "blacklisted" plugins, DX crashes. I'm sure there's some way to get to these and edit them to use the newer plugins or convert to scripts, but I'm not having any luck finding it. So... just looking for some info. as to how to update older themes/objects. I'm sure someone has posted a guide or message board item on this - but I've not come across it. So, any pointers would be appreciated.

Thanks -

RR

I recon the safest way to upgrade would be to just use the graphics from the old theme and then build it from scratch. This is a hell of a lot of work of course, but you can at least be sure that you don't have some old/conflicting scripts running, and causing you problems.

I believe Adam Solley released some of his themes in the graphics section (e.g. the LCARS-theme) for just that reason.

Thanks for the quick reply. I was kinda thinking just reusing the graphics might be what I would have to end up doing. My only problem with that is some of these are things I downloaded 2 years ago and I have no idea what they looked like or did! Wish I could get 'em to a temporarily working state of some sort, just to get a good look at them, and then decide to upgrade them or not. On some of these themes, leaving off the bits with oldstyle plugins leaves me with just wallpaper. Ah well, thanks again for the input. I'll keep playing with 'em.
