Fonts?

Doesn't look the same

Hello, hope someone can help me. I really like the WindowBlinds product with one maddening exception: When I look at a screen shot in the skins section and download it (Max OS X Tiger, for example) it looks really sharp on the screenshot. When I install it, none of the fonts look the same, in fact, they're all the same. Very few of the skins I download actually look like the screenshot, and it's always the title bar and other fonts that are different. Please tell me, what am I doing wrong?

I may be wrong (and if I am don't worry, someone will come along a correct me) but I have a feeling if you don't have the font installed that is used in the skin, it will default.

In WB configuration you can change fonts in user overides.

I do remember seeing some skin descripts last year that specifically mentioned the font and/or detailed the font was included in the zip. Search your windoblind folder and see if any have font files. I found 3 in mine.

Bichur is correct. Many WB's have fonts in folder.Go to Stardock folder in Program Files right click on WindowBlinds
folder, search, in all or part of file name type .ttf when search complete select all, copy to Windows\Fonts. When it
gets to one you have it will let you know just click ok. If you still have problem with some skins you will need
SkinStudio to see what font is used then go to a free font site ( sorry I do not know any, Google.) and download font
and put in windows\fonts. Or post a comment on skin and ask author if they could send it to you.

Recent versions of WB have the ability to Auto-install fonts included with a skin, but many skins were published before that was enabled. Most older skins which use an unusual font have, however, traditionally included the font in the skin folder and it can be installed from there just like any other font.

There is also an option in WBConfig to override skin fonts universally - open WBConfig and look at User Overrides -> Font Overrides. Perhaps a font override is set there.

Thanks to everyone for your comments. Some of the problems were corrected by finding the font file and copying it to the Windows font folder. Checking with the creator of the skin in one case, I was directed to an Appearance tab effects setting which changed things to look exactly like the screenshot sample. Between the three of you, you solved my problem very effectively.

Thanks!
