Crash: Bad Pool Caller

Driver issue

I tried Desktop X and when I loaded a certain theme, my PC froze. I rebooted and got a blue screen saying Bad Pool Caller. As I understand it, this means that I have a driver trying to illegally access memory. I can only assume it is the driver from this theme. I have made no other changes to my PC. So, I need to locate the specific driver (in Safe Mode) in order to do this. Any ideas on how I can locate a specific driver to delete? Or, any other ideas besides reformatting? Thanks!

Not sure what is going on there, originalsoul.

If you are running XP, I would recommend going to system restore using a command prompt in safe mode:

At a command prompt, type: %systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe

Hit: Enter

Follow prompts to set computer back to a previous state.

Uninstall that theme.

I you really think the current Theme you are using is causing the problems you can also delete all the contents of the c:\Documents and Settings\'Your Account Name'\Local Settings\Application Data\Stardock\DesktopX\Current Theme

DesktopX will then start with an empty theme. If you manage to boot into safe-mode you could also just uninstall DesktopX. (Ah yes, and definitively do a full AntiVirus scan on your system)

Good Luck
