Duality

Two sides of a coin....but still the same coin... ;)

Such coldness,
Unspeakable evil.
To kill and torture and maim.
To play with life.

Causing pain,
Grief, sorrow, tears.
What could be so horrible?
What can hold such hatred?

Icy hatred,
From the depths of hell.
A twisted creature,
That holds unspeakable horrors.

Warmth, love,
A complete contradiction.
Understanding and compassion,
So much good.

The love that heals,
Is wielded so beautifully.
Kindness, help,
These are offered.

Too good to be true?
Why is there so much good?
These nice beings,
So full of love.

A duality,
These qualities describe the same being.
One half bad,
The other good,
Yin and yang.

What can hold such contrast?
Two faces that are the same?
These belong to each of us,
Humans keep these pieces inside,
From caring to homicide.
We contradict much,
We can heal and help or tear apart,
Thus the duality of the human heart.

You have much knowledge for only being in high school, I am impressed.

And this poem is so true... the human mind works under this dualty. It has the power to create, heal, mend, and help... but also the power to destroy, hate, tear apart, and turn away.

You are able to put these concepts into poetry... good poetry... that's a talent, never lose it.
