job completion - aggregated management

The UI right now generates, for each planet completing a job, a message icon - it can get REALLY tedious to move the mouse back and forth click on the icons. Surely, you can scroll "previous" or "next" planet - what would be a better is only 1 job icon is displayed. An overview UI screen comes up when that icon is clicked.
On this overview UI screen, it will display 1) a list of planets completing a job last term, 2) the job (project) completed, 3) the next queued job (or nothing queued). Space-permitting, maybe effect or other useful/relevant info.
The same idea applies to icons about spaceship construction completion. Or perhaps, the overview UI screen has tabs - job/project tab vs shipbuilding tab vs.... Having a player moving mouse across the screen several times a turn just to click on those icons isn't very user-friendly...

Master of Orion series had a planetary screen which I've always found useful for this. Maybe in the filter parameters, you include one for the completion icon, which filters out all the planets that haven't just finished something, and lets you look at what's left.

Maybe you could design a similar fleets screen. I rarely use the one in MOO3 because it looks too cluttered, and hard to read.

P.S. if you look at MOO3 for it, scroll boxes are annoying, please avoid them as much as possible.

i like the drop down icons, but agree constantly having to click on them is a micromanagement prob, specialy when the build queue is still ongoing. i suppose on large maps the icons will soon "overstack", in which case, maybe only a planet build notification drop down icon when the build queue is finished? i assume there will be some governors incorporated at some stage, so don't know how that might affect things.........

The icons fade and eventually drop off the bottom; there is no need to click on them if you don't want to. They are just reminders that something happened. And I would bet there's probably gonna be a checkbox to hide all reminders (or maybe subset filters) in the game options/settings screens.

Perhaps an Option as to how long the icons stick around for, as well as some options for turning off certain news events?

We will eventually have a GNN like GalCiv 1 did.  Right now we don't have one, so the icons are overkill until we have a way to manage them.

Great! I was going to say how about something like 'only notify me when the build queue is empty' ? Currently an icon gets put up if a planet builds something and still has stuff in its build queue. That would help reduce a lot and cut down on the micro.

Or maybe use a different brightness for icon telling that a project is completed but there are still something in the queue and icon telling that project is completed and the queue is empty.

Thta could be handy if there is a queue on research, ships building and planetary improvements
