WINDOWBLINDS does not work on other Account Logons!

Hello,

I have the Full Version of WB running on XP Home Edition SP2 PackBell p4,2.8mhz, 1.00gb ram,Radeon 9600/256vid ram.

WB runs fine on my administration account and on a Guest account.
But on my partners logon account it is there but no skins show up (even the ones that came with the program).
The only skin that shows is the Windows default.

The WB button in the display properties box just closes the displays properties box, and in the WB ui settings no languages show up in the drop down box,
and WB isnt loaded when going into that account (nothing in the sys tray).

I have even changed her to an administration account, but still no luck. I have reinstalled it twice - still nothing.(& turned off ZoneAlarm)

I read something in "user permissions.txt" in the WB dir about a calc.exe setting permissions, but the reinstalls would have fixed that.

Any ideas anyone before my partner says my PC is useless!?.

Cheers.- Cleavus

This sounds like a case for the support forum, or more appropriately Stardock support. I have WB installed on my girlfriends computer and it works just fine for multiple accounts. I'm not sure if I ran the installer on both accounts or just on mine and then it worked for hers also but either way it does work. I would give SD tech support a chance as I'm sure they've seen this before and will be more than willing to help..

Good Luck!!

reynold1,

I just tested it on my machine (I only use one account) using the enhanced version, by creating a "Test" account and applying a skin, it worked fine.

You could try the following:

Return your account to default Windows XP including all icons, then creating a "Test" account. If this works, just copy the contents of your partner's "Cookies", "Favorites", "My Documents", "Start Menu", and "Desktop" folders to the "Test" account > log off Partner's old account > delete Partner's old account from your account > rename "Test" account to Partner's account.

This should work unless there is some non-default settings in WindowBlinds that is creating an issue for some reason.

I hope this helps.

Wow, never thought of trying that. I'll give that a go as Ive exhausted all other avenues. . Good suggestion.

If that dont work I'll try Stardock support or tell her to buy her own computer.

MAny thanks

Email Stardock support. I had a similar problem and they sent me a batch file that fixed the problem. I no longer have the email or I'd send it to you myself.
