How to get rid of separators?

I added some separators on my dock and I now want to get rid of them. When i click on where the separator is and try to move it, the whole dock moves instead. So, I locked the dock, but when I try to move the separator, nothing happens. How do i get rid of them?

Right click in the general vicinity of the separator and click "Remove this separator".

That doesn't work. When I right click where the separator is it gives me the menu that you would get if you just had free space on your dock. After I wrote, I figured out to just make another dock and transfer the icons. Hey - if it works.

You have to be precise with the pointer when right clicking. But if it's a separator that separates tabs for active programs and quick launch icons (the ones you've put to be on the dock all the time) you can't remove it - it automatically appears when there is at least one active program icon.

I have the same problem. I've tried dragging them off and there's nothing to grab. A right click doesn't bring up an option to remove the separators and I've tried clicking all over the locations. Before they added separators I would use a "blank" png and a hyphen as a description. I think I'll go back to that method.

Odd. As lomg as I am close to the separator I get that option on right click.
