Unable to uninstall Stardock Central

I have been having numerous problems with SDC, so I attempted to uninstall using Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs. When I select SDC and click on Uninstall, I get a popup window that says "Could not open INSTALL.LOG file". I downloaded and tried the Zapper utility, but that does not include SDC on the list of programs to uninstall.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated...thanks.

I would suggest going to Stardock web site, and enter your e-mail address in the support section. You should then receive an e-mail from Stardock within an hour with links to your products.

Use the SDC link to download a fresh copy of the installer, then try reinstalling it, reboot computer, then uninstall it.

Post again here if you have an issue.

Thanks for the quick reply Corky...I finally got it to uninstall, had to open Task Manager and kill sdmcp.exe from running (which was causing it to hang). Now...here's a new problem...I went through uninstalling, and said Yes to all the files it wanted to uninstall. Rebooted my system, and while loading, I get a popup telling me "ODImg.dll not found, TGA & PNG image loading will be unavailable." Apparently one of the files that was deleted, was needed. The only system restore point I had was a week ago, and attempting to restore to that point was unsuccessful.

Is there another way to get the file ODImg.dll back? Which program was it installed with? I could try to uninstall all my Object Desktop programs if needed. Thanks for your help.

ODImg.dll is in c:\Program Files\Common Files\Stardock

I am not sure where exactly it came from (why did you want to uninstall SDC?), but since it starts with 'OD' it might have come with ObjectDock? But then again it is possible that it means 'ObjectDesktop'.

Mind you that you might have also other problems if you are running Stardock products without SDC. I am thinking of SDMCP.exe that is needed to run the systray option in ObjectDock and DesktopX. Maybe you will have to reinstall SDC again?

Actually, uninstalling SDC cleared up my systray problems.

As far as I know, one does not have to have SDC installed to run other Stardock apps...as I've done that before. I do have a fresh download of SDC in my downloads folder, so I'll try installing that again...but may uninstall it afterwards (remembering to keep those files intact). Thanks for the reply.

ODImg.dll is in c:\Program Files\Common Files\Stardock


And so is SDC's install.log file!

To do a clean uninstall, copy or move the log file to where SDC is installed and the uninstall will go smoothly.
