Is it possible to complete a game in BETA?

Is it possible to complete a full game? From my point of view, there are lots that still needs to be developed in order to all for a full game to be completed...maybe I'm just that nub!

Frankly I don't think the beta is completable at the moment, since the tech tree doesn't work and there appears to be no way to create combat ships.

And more preciselly, to quote Frogboy:
"This beta shouldn't be used to judge the "fun" ness of the game. Or even the graphics of it. For instance, we intentionally took out the textures on ships.

Game balance isn't in there and there are lots of features not in. Examples:

* The AI doesn't really function yet.
* There's no star bases.
* The technology tree is only at the very start
* There's hardly any planetary improvements
* There's no diplomacy or trade
* The setup screens are not really hooked up yet or fully designed yet.

In short, the beta isn't really playable as a game yet. It's purely to see how we're doing in terms of compatibility, performance, and some of the UI concepts we're working with."

But it is nice to have a first glance at it.

Of course, that make it even more fun, because I can tax at 100% and spend at 100% and have the best economy of all the AIs. In fact, if you don't do that it take too long to build colony ships or do the research that you can do. Soil Improvement for exmple starts out at 144 weeks to comlete. A little slow.

I find ctd if i try and do the normal colony rush by making fast colony ships (Often they are cheaper being 2x colony pod 2x impulse drive and 1 support)

Is it possible to complete a full game?
Considering that the game itself isn't complete, the points posted by Brad in the Beta Schedule - the gist of which are quoted by Nastavnik above, and the consistent CTD events I think it's highly unlikely.
That said: the game may have code in it that allows that game to end. It may not be complete or comprehensive though. The GC1 early betas didn't allow the game to end if you "won" in certain ways.

It's already possible to wipe all your opponents out. Not having done this yet, I don't know if any sort of victory announcement or screen is in yet or if the game just keeps going.

However, what Nastavnik said. We're unfortunately not at the point of Fun Betas yet.

I actually won a game a few days ago. By luck though...

It is possible, and you do get a victory message.

Oh, and you can build combat ships.

Have not been able to successfully reload a saved game here either. Best I've done 'in-game' is to assimilate one my rivals by having them rebel and join the righteous.

By luck I mean that the other AI lost his only two planets to me because they rebeled and joined me and I won. I didn't even have a transport ship.

Hahaha...I haven't gotten that far yet. I am still learning the new control and environment.

Mine was a trivial invasion. Two troop transports with beefed up speed/range, built on a cargo hull since nothing out there was shooting at me. Didn't need offensive ships since there were no defending ships. Took over both of the enemy worlds while my homeworld started working on a long range hunter to kill his flagship, though the game was over before the hunter ship was completed. I still haven't shot at anything. Strangely addictive for a game that crashes before I get into war every time.
