Idea: satelite empires

when a civilization is losing could it agree to become your satelite empire. From then on would the following be true for that empire:
-It has and generates your influence/culture, this also means that it's cities are save from flipping to the master empire because it has the same culture.
-It does no longer have an idependent foreign policy. Instead does it have the foreign policy of the master empire.
-satelite empires always have the same form of government as the master empire.
-When all non satelite empires are defeated or are alies have both the master empire and the satelite empire won(thought the satelite empire could be given a score penality because winning as a satelite empire isn't the same as a normal victory)
-You can still trade with them like before.
-You can't declare war against a satelite state without declaring war against the master empire.

This could allow you to create a buffer of satelite states around your empire with who you could do trade knowing they shall never attack you(expect maybe some very rare events).

a satellite state with a couple of your planets in the corner of the map. You lose their income and the ability to construct on them, but in return you get new trading partners and don't need to spend time on those planets.

ld be neat to see if they could accidentally drag you into a war.

I wouldn't allow the player to tax them at all.

There needs to be some disadvantage to them.

Yes you lose the tax income, but you can gain it back in trade income.

e protection, have their economy boosted by trade. You... you get a very very expensive buffer that gives back a bit of money in trade.

Shouldn't this thread be linked to the Puppet States thread? Could be useful. Now, where is that search function...

Can a satellite state "rebel" against you... if they get to fat and greedy, for instance?

I love this idea! It would be interesting to have or to be one of the satelite empires. But you should be able to get independent again if another empire liberates you. Or they could just take you over to...

e where the civ evolved and "grew up" so the homeworld is very much the cultural "where the heart lies" of every civilization, plus it is the political heart also.

I'll carry on about cultural assimilation in another thread......
