I think i've said this but let me say it again

THANK YOU AMERICA

I think i've already mentioned this in someone's thread, but i've decided i'd make my very own article about it.

It’s about the actual worldwide public opinion on the American actions in Iraq lately. It seems every body is criticizing the States about all their decisions. Everyone wants a piece of the USA. Countries that were in deep shit once and that seeked for their help and got it no questions asked, are now being all snob, and saying that the methods used are not politically correct or whatever.

But these kinds of actions are what saved their ass in the second world war. A lot of people seem to have forgotten that.

My Dad told me he’d never forget what the United States did and sacrificed in the Pacific to keep the Japanese away. If it wasn’t for their troops we’d probably be some communist little country under a dictatorial leadership where freedom of speech is forbidden.

Americans had bases in Port Vila and Santo that still remind us of their actions here. In Santo for instance divers are fond of the famous wreck of the President Coolidge (a luxury passenger liner that sank in the early 40’s after hitting a mine) which has now become the most popular and accessible diving site in the Pacific. There are crashed planes in our luxurious bushes that are rotting away, and probably soon we’ll forget this times as well…

And our very own Ambae (the island where I’m from) is believed to have inspired Michener’s Tales of the South Pacific.

They were here and fought for us. They started developing this rugged place and brought a new technology and a new conception of life and freedom to a countries that were following the typical colonial system.

Anyway, all this to say that a lot of people from another generation still remember what happened in the past and will always be grateful to the States.

Yes we all agree on the glories of the past. The freedoms they brought to Europe, and they're to be commended. But that does not and should not give them carte blanche to inflict carnage and mayhem on other people. That does not and should not make them excempt from international law, the same international law it drew up with (for) the UN. It should not excuse them for bad things they're doing. Things are going to crap over there. And I understand over 200 years of proud military Marine honor went down the pissbucket when they did what they did in Fallujah. Times are changing.

I suppose "an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth" doesnt ring a bell to you does it?

Okay, i take that back. Apologies...

But if terrorism didnt exist maybe the States wouldnt need to take such drastics actions. And i feel for the families back there who pay for other people's acts, I really do. And probably the States shouldnt do what they're doing. But i'm not God. Cant change what happened in Fallujah...

All taken in a balance, I think there's a lot more good than bad that has come out of the States. But it can and should do more. That's why people who love America and remember its good deeds raise hackles when they slowly realize some of its policies are deviating from what it once held true. In a working democracy, it's called course-correction. And it's coming from everyday folks who only mean America well.

AH, so you live in Vanuatu.  I knew from your previous postings that it was the South Pacific somewhere, but that helps pinpoint it.

And thank you.  As an American, your thoughts mean a lot to us.  Have a great life on God's Little Acre!

you know scatter when the Americans came here they confiscated my grandfather's lands, cattle and employees, and sent him away from the then New Hebrides for a whole year. The reason they did that is because he nearly killed a Black American that was part of a group that supposedly stole from him and raped women working for him. When they sent him on his way, they told him these people would be judged in a court and he should have never taken justice in his own hands. Back then, WE didnt have no efficient systemes so everybody took justice in their own hands. But anyway, my point is, when they have a plan the USA never put gloves. But at the end of the day, they know they're doing the right thing for evrybody's well being.

Dr. Guy, i'm glad you appreciated this post.
Have a great life on God's Little Acre!
