JoeUser Development Update (Sept 25)

This week we didn't manage to get much in as far as new features are concerned. We primarly focused on tweaking and finishing features that were incomplete.

Here is a run down on this weeks progress:

Bug fixes and Tweaks

  • DNS: Many people kept receiving 404 errors when trying to connect the the JoeUser sub domains.  After digging around in our DNS configuration I found a few problems and corrected them.  Those corrections seem to have corrected the problem where people could not access some of our pages.  So if you still experience 404 errors please let me know.
  • We reversed the order in which the comments are displayed.  The are now displayed in an ascending order with the oldest comment shown first.
  • Channel index shows properly except for the audience of "Just me"
  • You can now enter an email address of a person when adding users to your private audiences

Blog Group Support

  • We added information to help support the blog groups.  In the yellow box the sites associated with the blog group are now displayed.
  • Open, Private, Closed Blog Group option added.  Open, any blog site can join automatically.  Private, an email is sent to the Blog Group owner and you must be approved.  Closed, you cannot join the group.

Top Info for Blog Site's and Blog Groups
In the right bar we added data to support the individual site or group;

  • For Blog Sites: Recent Articles and Top Articles
  • For Blog Groups: Recent Articles, Top Articles, Featured Articles, Top 10 Blog Sites
  • For Joe User: Joe User's Top 10 Blog Groups

That's really it for the important stuff.  Several other minor tweaks were made that are not worth mentioning.  Next week to hope to implement a Referal system that will track referals from other sites to your articles.  Also we will be adding the ability to create custom links in the right  bar along with custom pages.

Could you fix joeuser.com so it works instead of giving a http 500? e.g. going to "joeuser.com" rather than "www.joeuser.com".

Thanks for the report. It should be working now.
