Metaverse submission does not work, 1.2 bug?

I have finished a game a tried to submit: first i hear my harddisk working (it's pretty loud, i can tell you) but nothing seems to happen, no transmission protokol or anything like this. then i click another time "submit" and the game returns to the main screen, from which you start a new game.I have transmitted a game succesfully a few month ago and i was using same alias & email-adress this time. Is this a new bug?

no fire wall was activated an i was playing 1.2.

This is the new procedure for 1.20. There is no indication that the game submitted. You need to go to Metaverse and check to see if the game actually submitted.

I find that there is never any delay. I check my game as soon as the submit screen disappears and my game is in my list of games played.

I have the same problem, but only when i have had my Internet explore set to work offline.

Another solution i have heard before is to switch to the internet explorer after hitting the submit button.

I still have not been able to submit my last 35K+ point game.

After clicking submit, screen goes immediately to main menu. Maybe I'll try again tonight.

When this happened to me, I cleaned out all the old saved games, renamed the saved game I wanted to reload. Finished the game again (usually the last save is the SaveEndGame file) and it then forms a new SaveEndGame file. Now you are submitting from a clean file, and with any luck, it should work.

Thanks for helping, but that rename-reload-suggestion did not work.

Maybe i can only try to submit a certain game once and the program remebers it and prevents submiting the same one twice?

Maybe it is connected with my installed but deactivated ZoneAlarm?

Additional inromation: My 56k modem is doing (or trying to do something) after i hit the submit button and then nothing happens...
if i hit the button a second time the game returns to the main screen.

I have an idea. Delete your endgame save!

It is probably subject to the same rules as the regular saved games. You have to delete all your old saved games (pre-1.19) and that probably includes the endgame save, also.

Try reloading from your last good save, delete the endgame save, win again, then re-submit. Odds are, it should work.

No, I have submitted games multiple times, gone back to the saved endgame and did a few more turns, and the resubmitted. You don't get multiple saves, but the last save replaces the previous save

I deleted all the saved games except for one. Played a few extra turns and renamed it. Won. Still can't upload my score.

Thanks for all the suggestions though. It is appreciated. Maybe I'll try for an Alliance victory to see if that works since my original game was Military.

I'm done playing GalCiv for awhile.

i've experienced losing a 1.2 game submission recently because i had saved it over an old save file and the meta wouldn't accept it. did you at ANY POINT save your game over a pre-1.2 save file?

You are not alone. Too bad for us! I'm a bit pessimistic about ever getting it to work for me (same problems). I think the upload interface is pretty lame actually. There needs to be a dialogue to help the player de-bug.

"Connecting to metaverse..."
"Uploading game #xxxxxxx to your account#xxxxxx"
"Upload failed: Data incorrect format"

etc.. Why is this information not displayed? Poor CariElf doing all the work alone?

There are a few places where more feedback would be welcome. Metaverse submission is one, and one other I can think of off the top of my head is the Military Swap function...you choose the old and new ships and press apply...and...nothing. A dialog that says "2 Battle Axe production queues updated to Battleships" or something would be nice. Just a thought...

I was having problems submitting after going to 1.2 as well. The information that is sent to the Meta changed between 1.13 and 1.2 and that change made my firewall not like the data exchange. I have to turn it off before sending, and that seems to fix the error. I hope that helps.

I've submitted 7 1.2 games. My last two games, since I uninstalled and reinstalled GalCiv, are not being submitted. After I click the submit button, the submission screen returns to the main menu much faster than before.

Have you tried to install/reinstall/update Stardock Central?

What version do you have? The latest seems to be 1.3.
I think that there is an option in the menu that allows you to check for application update.

You can also to the the stardock website to download the full 5-6 Mega .exe. THAT should do a complete reinstall :)
