saving on upgrade

wipes out settings

When upgrading from OD+ 1.0 to 1.1, how do you do it so that all curent settings are maintained rather than being overwritte? I tried installing new version over the old and it wiped all my current settings, I had to do a windows System Restore to get back my settings.

leenewman,

Save your theme (Config ObjectDock>General tab>Save theme as) then do the following:

Create a temporary folder in say "My Documents"

Create folders inside this temporary folder for any of the following that you need - Themes, Backgrounds, Images, and Docklets.

Copy any files from the relevant folders in the "C:\Program Files\Stardock\ObjectDock" folder that you want to keep - (especially the theme you saved and any items that are part of that theme) - to the temporary folders.

Deselect "Load ObjectDock at startup" option if selected, open "My Computer" and go to "Tools>Folder Options>View tab" and select "Show hidden files and folders", then click "Apply".

Go to "C:\Documents and Settings\"user name"\Local Settings\Application Data\Stardock" folder (where "C" is the letter drive, and "user name" is the name on the account when you are logged in), and delete any "ObjectDock" folder there. This clears the cache.

Upgrade ObjectDock, reboot machine, copy the files from the temporary folders you created back to their relevant folders in "C:\Program Files\Stardock\ObjectDock" folder.

Start ObjectDock, you should see the default theme start, right-click the tabbed dock and select "Dock Settings", then load your saved theme from the General tab.

I hope this helps.
