Was just Wondering about a few things plz help

First off let me just say that my topic has probably been dealt with before and more than likely numerous times by numerous ppl but i'm new and i didnt see anything that made any sense to me so here i go. first of all i'd love to know if there is any kind of guide to using all the creating tools that come in the object dock bundle (i've used some of the easier ones but the more complicated ones designed to help create new icons, skins, themes, widgets, etc are a little complicated without a manual). two can anyone tell me what the little bar that i sometimes see on a screenshot on like the top of ppls desktops that has a bunch of icons on it that either glow or get bigger when you move the mouse over them is called and how i could find one (i'd love to use something like that instead of icons in order to free up my desktop) also when using object desktop programs (windowblinds, desktop x, etc i cannot use the browse over internet function through the load skins, widgets, blinds, etc. thought that maybe someone could tell me why and tell me how to rectify this problem) even though i do have a wincustomize browser i would still like it if my programs that i bought with my hard earned money did what they said they should do. well guys and gals i do believe thats all the ranting i'll do PLZ send feedback thanx

rashkei,

I'll answer what I can.

1) If you have Object Desktop, you should also have Stardock Central. If you run this program, you should see the "Object Desktop Documentation" in the Object Desktop category (you might have to click the "more" button to see it). Just download this file, and you should end up with a "Documentation" folder in the "Start menu>Object Desktop" folder. It is in ".pdf" format and includes a wide variety of user manual instructions to get you started. (Note - you may already have this). I suggest reading this first to gain an overview of the basics - then go to some of the tutorials that are available.

2) The bar with icons that glow and zoom sounds like ObjectDock, found here: Link. There is a free version "ObjectDock" and a retail version "ObjectDock Plus". The difference is that the free version allows the user to create one non-tabbed dock, and the retail "Plus" version allows the user to create multiple docks - both tabbed and non-tabbed. If you like large high-quality icon images, I would strongly recommend this program. I suggest starting with the free version, to see how you and your computer like it - then upgrade if needed.

3) I assume you are referring to the "Install skin from web" button in WindowBlinds, or the "Install new package...>Install from the web.." buttons in IconPackager. They should work if you are using the latest official released version of those programs.

If you are using the latest official releases and are not getting to the web after using those buttons, there may be some kind of restriction being invoked by your firewall towards these programs request for access.

Please leave some more information on the steps you are taking to try to access web through these programs, and someone here is bound to have some good advice.

I hope this helps in some way.
