Hands off

ai fun

One thing I always enjoyed about some strategy games was a hands off mode. where you can just let the AI's fight. Space Empires 4 allows your to create you own 'ai' empires (modding). They even have ai deathmatch competitions...

Looks like alot of fun, and may allow for variety and more challenges to players.

Also the devs will hopefully(probably) be tweaking AI parameters up to and after the release version. Maybe the scenario editior could be expanded to allow race customisation.

do with moddable AI. And the Ai vs Ai stuff is just fun to do (in my opinion). Would be great if hands off play was allowed in GC2.

It's my understanding that the premade AIs in the game are all coded independantly (except fotr basic stuff like pathfinding). Is this right?

have that same blind spot.

Maybe some day make the AI modular and those with compilers can add their own? Have each AI be a dll... That would be pretty fun....

That's not likely to happen. The reason our AIs are so good is that they're not script driven. They are really designed to play like people which means a lot of very specialized coding just for hte game.

And we oldtimer galciv 1 lovers know the AI developed by Brad and hisSD team is probably the best ever designed for these kind of games

ay for the AI to adapt to changes to units, buildings or technology trees. Maybe a little bit of scripting for players to plug in new info in mods? Some sort of interface to the hard-coded AI.

Just a thought.
