Hydrogen-Powered Vehicles

As soon as I heard in 2000 that cars could be run on hydrogen, I was completely excited about it. I can't verify it as truth, but back then I was listening to a late-night radio show called Coast to Coast AM Link, and the guest Bob Lazar in casual conversation on an entirely different topic, said that he'd converted his personal vehicle to operate on hydrogen.
I was hooked.

The only downsides of this technology are

1) it would really piss off everyone whose livelihoods depend on the oil industry, as they'd lose a lot of business;

2) hydrogen is really, really flammable;

3) it might rain a lot, what with all of the water droplets (car exhaust) evaporating and turning into clouds in the sky.

And for now, 4) the average person can't afford to own one of these vehicles quite yet. As of now the only way to drive down the cost of these vehicles is for a lot of rich people to buy them....an increased demand would drive the cost down a little.

But the technology is still 10 years down the road. I can hardly wait.

I told John that we're not going to buy another car until we get us one of those. And since I'm queen of this castle, what I say always goes, no matter how seemingly absurd. Unless my husband comes up with a better idea than any one of my given ideas, which is rare.

I too enjoyed the Coast to Coast episodes with Bob Lazar! Hydrogen power does have a few years before it is economically feasible, but I remember a certain CEO of IBM scoffing at the idea of "home computers" too! ;~D

What I find especially entertaining about the whole Hydrogen thing is the politics of it. I remember reading articles from "Environmentalists" (in quotes to express derision for the wacko wing!) lauding Hydrogen power as one of our greatest potentials for "alternative" energy. Then something happened that turned them against hydrogen. Something that caused them to change from singing its praises to adding to their list of "enemies to enlightenment".

What bit of new information turned the tables for them? What insight did science present that destroyed hydrogen's hopes and dreams of being "the next big thing"???

Prs. Bush mentioned it.

I guess to these "environmentalists" who backs it is more important than how it can help the environment... right? :~D

KEEP ON LISTENING TO COAST!!!
