OD+ crashes each time I restart my computer.......help!

High there.

I am a brand new user of Objectdesktop and objectdock+

At first sight all that stuff seams like a pretty big hill to climb.....confusing.

However, I have a problem whem starting my computer.
Everything seams OK till Objectdock+ charges automatically.
An error message appears telling me that OD+ crahed unexpectedly and that it is going to reload whith the latest backup it made....

The fact is that it didn't crash at all.....I only turned off the computer...!

could anybody tell me what is the thing i do wrong???

Thank you for your help

Franck,

Not clear what is going on here, so I would try the following:

This is assuming you are running Windows 2000 or Windows XP.

Deselect any option to "start automatically when windows starts" or similar in ObjectDock, DesktopX, and any Widgets you have loaded.

Return your desktop to the default Windows settings including any icons > unload all programs > create a folder and name it something like "ObjectDock backup" in the "My Documents" folder > go to "C:\Program Files\Stardock\ObjectDock" folder (where "C" is the letter drive), and copy any icons, backgrounds, and themes that did not come with the ObjectDock program to your newly created folder.

Uninstall ObjectDock > Reboot computer > go to "C:\Program Files\Stardock" folder and delete any "ObjectDock" folder(s) left there > then go to "C:\Documents and Settings\"user name"\Local Settings\Application Data\Stardock" folder (where "C" is the letter drive, and "user name" is the name on the account when you are logged in), and delete any "ObjectDock Plus" and/or any "ObjectDock" folders left there.

Note - if you can't see the "Local Settings" folder mentioned above, open the "My Documents" folder and go to "Tools > Folder Options > View tab" and select "Show hidden files and folders", then click "Apply". Then follow instructions above.

Reinstall ObjectDock Plus > reboot computer > load ObjectDock Plus and run the default theme (should load automatically) to verify the program installed correctly > right-click a dock > select "Load ObjectDock at startup" > click "OK" > reboot computer to verify that ObjectDock starts up automatically.

You should be good to go, and you can now move any of the files you backed up to the correct folders in ObjectDock directory. If you need any tips on setting up ObjectDock, see comment #8 here: Link

I hope this helps.

The problem is your computer is shutting down faster than OD can save it's settings........ that's why I always unload OD before I restart/shutdown.

Yes that's what I think, it shuts down faster than OD but what can I do?

Like Koasati said, you'll need to right click on the dock (not on an object) and chose quit before you shut down the computer. You could also right click the icon in the systray and chose Unload Object Dock.

"Start > Control Panel > Performance and Maintenance > Power Options" - if there is an APM (Advanced Power Management) tab, you will see any options available to you which Windows XP can control.

Disabling APM support may prevent computer from shut down prior to Windows saving your settings. Unfortunately, this option (if available) should be taken with a grain of salt, because the BIOS may have specific reasons for powering down the computer before the OS unloads.

Windows XP gives each program 20 seconds to deinitialize and exit, and will put up a message box indicating an application has not yet exited, and then give you some options to deal with slow exiting programs.

You can increase this 20 second timing, but it is a regedit function and is not recommended.

Just some information for you.
