Icon-A-Day, Icons #55 & #56, RTF & Write Files

Little used and little loved, but need to to be done.

Icon 55 & 56 (RTF & Wight Files)

Today we will take care of two of the least glamorous and seldom seen File Type icons supported in the default types. The Write file is almost never used anymore, so I have decided to not place the extension in the title area, this will allow people to use it for just about any simple word processor.

The RTF file is more or less a slightly fancier copy of our Text file, on it we have some formatted copy with different colors.

Lets see how we came up with these in some very simple steps.
 
Step 1a:

I start  with the Text File, and remove the copy and lines. And I change the Title to RTF.

 Step 2a:

Now using the Artistic Text tool I make some formatted text and place it on our file.

 Step 3a:

Now to say that this is an editable format, make a copy of our Pen Overlay and place it in front of our new file.

 
Step 4a:

Last with the  Reflection Techniques I create a new reflection of the file.

Finished Icon Image.

 Step 1b:

For our second file I simply copy the RTF file and edit the copy to make room for a picture.  I sold the picture from our BMP file.

Step 2b:

Last thing is to copy the pen back in front of the file.

Quick and simple (at least simple for the teacher).

I finally got some free time from work to set-up my icon pack template as you taught us in the "Set-up" and "Object Manager" videos.

Starting to get comfortable with CorelDRAW (Illustrator convert here), and I am very happy I chose CD12 over upgrading to Illustrator CS. It just fits my work style better with all the interactive tools available.

Thanks again for the great instruction and icons.

BTW - if you find the time (ha, ha), could you possibly drop some helpful hints in any upcoming videos for creating the Start Menu, TaskBar, and Special task panes using CorelDRAW? You had a quick reference in one of the videos - I think it was the "Exporting 101" - where you used a Start Menu image and then began to break it up. I was interested in say, the standard pixel sizes and how to break it up properly.

Not trying to push my luck, so only if it fits in with what you are doing without creating any undue stress.

Wow! You Sold the windows xp's default picture? Microsoft won't be happy to hear this.

Oh yeah the 55 icon's final picture link is broken.

XX, that is not "Bliss" the name of the MS Default Walpaper image, it is another picture of a plain. I did however chose it becuse it was simaler.

Fixed the link, there were some bugs in uploading last night when I made this post.

PS. These Icons are free, so I have not "sold" anything.

Corky, after the Icon of the Day Project is done I plan to do walk through of some skins, in a attemt to finaly finish my new free "Atlas" suite.
