ObjectDock error

Unable to locate component

Hi all,

got objectdock a few days ago for the first time and have been using non-stop ever since - i luv it.

however, todaym following the installation of a few more themes i suddenly lost the ability to right click the items on my dock. the error message i get is as follows:

"This application has failed to start because ccTrust.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem."

ive tried reinstalling the dock but it hasnt helped - does any1 have a solution?

thanx in advance and apologies if this topic has been brought up b4.

cctrust.dll (Common client cctrust) - Details The cctrust.dll library contains program code used by Symantec Antivirus.

Koasati is much more advanced than I am, so follow whatever advice he gives over mine.

I do have one thing you can try - disregard if you have already done this in the previous uninstall>reinstall procedure.

1) Deselect any options to "Start automatically when windows starts" in ObjectDock, DesktopX, and any Widgets.
2) Unload all programs and return Windows to the default settings including any icons.
3) Create a folder in "My Documents", and save any images, backgrounds, and themes from the ObjectDock directory that were not included with ObjectDock to this new folder.
4) Uninstall ObjectDock and reboot computer.
5) Go to "C:\Program Files\Stardock" and delete any "ObjectDock" folder left there.
6) Go to "C:\Documents and Settings\"user name"\Local Settings\Application Data\Stardock" folder (where "C" is the letter drive, and "user name" is the name on account when you are logged in), and delete any "ObjectDock" folder(s) left there, (Note - if you can't see the "Local Settings" folder - go to "Tools>Folder Options>View tab" and select "Show hidden files and folders", then click "Apply").
7) Reinstall ObjectDock and reboot computer.
8) Load ObjectDock and verify that the program installed correctly.

This procedure is kind of a pain, but it should clear all previous settings for ObjectDock (with the exception of registry records) and allow a clean install of the program. A lot of people do not know to delete the folder in step #6 which "clears your cache" as it were.

Reinstalling Norton AV would reinstall the cctrust.dll if that is the program that wrote the .dll to your system, though I know very little concerning the Norton .dll files and would not know why it is causing a problem. I run Norton Internet Security Professional 2003, and Norton SystemWorks 2003 and have no issues at all with ObjectDock (I run 1 normal and 2 tabbed docks all the time).

I hope this helps and apologize if you have already tried all this.

Very strange... no idea why it's looking for that dll, if you're no longer using the program, but you can download the file here..... http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/pop.php?cctrust
I guess it would go in the System32 folder. Might help, shouldn't hurt anything even if it doesn't help.

I'm not all that sharp........ just been playing with, and breaking things on the computer for a few years. I've learned a lot of lessons that ended up with..... "ummmm, guess I shouldn't have done that"

Yeah, I have used a lot of .......oops! - that didn't work very well, did it? Method.

I still defer to your judgement though, Koasati.
