Flyout Menus

Text and Positioning

In re flyout menus in Object Dock:
First is there any way for each individual folder to automatically show its name, rather than simply when I mouse over it after starting the flyout menu?
Second, I have attached the dock containing the flyout menu item to the side of my screen. However, when I engage the item with the flyout menu, rather than appearing to the left (for a right attached icon) the flyout appears below the dock, resulting in about half the flyout items not being visible on the screen. How do I set the flyout so that the expanding folders/files appear to the left or right where there is adequate screen space?
Finally, is there any way to change the color and shadowing effects if the font under icon names in docks or the font used by the flyout menus? I am finding them difficult to read.
Thanks

sophiesboy,

I don't think there is a way to have individual folders automatically show their name in flyout mode. You can show entry name below each icon on a tabbed dock, but this does not change the behavior of the flyout entry names.

On second item, is your dock a tabbed dock which extends into screen center? If you create a vertical dock (normal or tabbed) and attach to the side of screen, your flyout will appear to the side (towards screen center) of the original flyout menu icon with the arc of icons extending from the dock edge on either end with the apex towards screen center. I hope that makes sense.

To make a vertical tabbed dock, just hover over dock edge until double headed arrow appears and drag the dock up or down to extend it vertically, then drag right or left to make it one icon deep - the icons will readjust themselves (you may have to fine tune the amount you drag until it is correct for your use).

You can change the font, size, and select "Bold" (default), "Italics" or neither, by going to the dock settings dialog and on the general tab - click the "Advanced Options" button - it will be obvious from there. No color or shadow adjustments are available that I know of.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for the advice - I think the key is the actual location of the tab - if you have a side attached tab with the name of the tab on the bottom - then the trouble arises

As to the fonts - those options only affect the lables that pop up with the "mouse over" option, they don't do anything for the labels that come up in the tab if you use the "show names" option in the tabs.

Which brings me to a new problem. See my next post.

Thanks
