Widet problems after system crash and restore

I have a widget problem which I am sure is easy to solve......

Following a system crash and a subsequent system restore (when I could only restart in safe mode) several of my widgets were all messed up. A clock one was frozen in time and a CPU monitor had no number display. They both were in the same place, but were messed up. I have tried closing them, restarting them to no avail. I have even uninstalled desktop X, reinstalled and rerun the widgets and still the same problem.

Help!!! I want my widgets back!!

Conrad,

I would first try unloading all widgets, then go to - C:\Documents and Settings\"user name"\Local Settings\Application Data\Stardock\DesktopX\WidgetCache (where "C" is the letter drive, and "user name" is the name of the account when you are logged on) and delete any widget folders.

This should remove any remembered settings for widgets that your computer is having problems with.

If you can't see the "Local Settings" folder mentioned above, go to "Tools>Folder Options>View tab" and select "Show hidden files and folders", click "Apply", then "OK".

Try the widgets and see if this fixed it.

If this does not fix it, then I would go with a combination of Uninstall DesktopX > reboot > go to "C:\Program Files\Stardock" folder, (or "C:\Program Files\Object Desktop\Stardock", if you have the full suite) and delete any DesktopX folder left > repeat procedure above and delete the whole "DesktopX" folder > reboot computer > reinstall DesktopX and widgets. You should be good to go.

I highly recommend deselecting any options to "run automatically at start-up in all widgets, objectdock, etc., unload all programs, and return windows to the default state including icons before performing the procedures listed above to remove any possible conflicts.

I hope this helps.
