Help with my Bootskin

I know i posted this somewhere else, but i think it falls in this catagory too, sorry to piss anyone off.

Hello, i made a bootscreen for my computer using photoshop, skinstudio, and applied it in bootskin (stardock). now for some reason, it works in the bootskin preview, but when i restart my pc it doesnt work and then i have to boot the pc in safe mode a fix it. let me tell you what i did and maybe someone knows what i did wrong. thanks!. first, i made the background. It is all gray, with a black BONES Skateboarding logo that i did some cool stuff to on it. so basically its all blacks and greys. and then i made just an all black progessbar, and saved them both as 16bit bitmaps. then i made a subdirectory in bootskin. then i opened my images in skinstudio and used the prepare for bootskin option/tool and saved them to the subdirectory i made. then i took one of the other existing bootskin.ini files that i had from downloading from this site, i believe it was the Trash_XP one, and replaced the variables with my information, and fixed the X/Y numbers and width of the progress bar so it looked right, and then i saved it as an .ini file. and then i tested it in the preview box and it worked! i was all happy, and then i restarted it, and it didnt work and i had to boot in safe mode just to get the pc started. does anyone know what i did wrong! help is GREATLY appreaciated. i want to get this one done so i can work on more, and submit them all to the site. im a beginner at this stuff, always used it, but just starting to make stuff myself. Thanks!

Most likely the problem is, is that the image is NOT a true 16color bmp.. The best fix is to get Stradock SkinStudio Pro and under tools is a bootskin prepare image progie use it to import the image you are having problems with then save it in their 16 color format and you should have no problems after that...................

Well I am almost positive that I did..twice..once just to give him the basic criteria for a bootskin and the next to congradulate him on getting it to work..I also provided a link to a tutorial about using different settings in graffix progs to get the most out of the 16 color pallet..

Weird..
at what age does the mind start to wander?? LoL

I kind of have an issue like that, however with me I use the SkinStudio Pro to prep the image, try the different filters, etc. & even not having any filtering at all....But the images still show up looking all cr@ppy!
I tried to submit my very first BootSkin and it was rejected because it didn't work right in 8bit...So, yeah all in all...I'm kind of lost here, 'cause I see all these kick @$$ BootSkins and have made some pretty kick @$$ skins myself....but they always show up looking like cr@p and get rejected when submitted...
Guess I should just forget about it and give up...None of the stuff I try to make for all these things ever turns out right anyway...And I've been doing this (making logons, bootskins, & bbLeanSkins) for 3 years now (except bootskins only been doing that for a month)...Oh well...any advice is welcomed...Thanks!
