WindowBlinds kills machine

I am having trouble running WindowBlinds on my work PC.

I can run the WB configuration program just fine. However, when I try to load a skin, any skin, the trouble starts. Once WB is finished loading, I can no longer open any explorer window. Existing explorer windows get skinned just fine, its just new windows that never open. Additionally, the task bar stops responding. Once I try to launch an explorer window, the cursor is always an hourglass on the taskbar. Once the system gets in this state, I cannot even kill explorer.exe from task manager. The only way for me to restart the system is a hard reset as the system will never shut down normally (even using the restart.exe program bundled with OD). I have tried numerous skins and all behave the same. I am running the following hardware / software configuration.

Dual Xeon 2.8 CPU's / 2 gig memory
Windows XP SP2 (all updates)
AGP Radeon 9800 Pro video
PCI Radeon 9200 video
3 monitors running at 1600x1200
ATI Catalyst 5.2 drivers (first started happening with catalyst 5.1 - I upgraded to 5.2 to see if that fixed anything - nope)

WindowBlinds works just fine on my home PC. The configuration is identical to my home PC except for the video card(s). At home I have an AGP NVidia 6800 GT and PCI NVidia 5200. Both systems are running 3 monitor setups.

Has anyone seen this sort of behavior? Is there anything I can do or am I doomed not to use WB at work?

thanks

I don't have a clue what's causing this, but I wanted to tell you...... I'm so jealous!

Update on this issue:

I tried downgrading to ATI Catalyst drivers 4.12 and now WindowBlinds loads up and can set a skin, more or less. However, there is still some screwyness and the system will randomly freeze for a few seconds regularly. Additionally, it will also exhibit the above behavior on occasion, requiring a hard reset.

Is anyone else using ATI cards with WindowBlinds (has to be) that has seen any strange behavior?

thanks

I hade to upgrade from the Fujitsu-Siemens supplied ATI drivers to drivers on ATI homepage (latest I assume). Then hardware accelleration etc worked...
Graphic card: ATI Radeon 9800 Pro

I'm running the latest Catalysts on Dual 1280's with a 256MB X800 and windowblinds works fine. Could hyper-paint be causing an issue (either it not being on, or should be off)?

Tested the latest build on a Xeon machine and it's fine btw. Have you turned off the msstyles engine through services? That can sometimes help.

I'm having somthing of the same issue on my work laptop... It's a COmpaq Evo n610c laptop with a ATI Radeon 7500 graphics chipset. I've always attributed the problems to it being a crappy 32Mb device, but now I'm thinking maybe not...

checked having Hyperpaint turned on and off and neither setting makes a difference. Not sure what you mean by turning off msstyles in services... if you're talking about the "Themes" service, yes I tried disabling that and it did not improve the results.
