How come???

Ever since i heard about it, i've never stopped wondering how can it be that the 'quack' of a duck doesnt echo?

How come, goddamit, HOW COME?

(Anyone who gets an aswer to that wins my everlasting respect & admiration...)

I've wondered that too, but I have no answers so I will just have to learn to live without your everlasting respect and admiration. ;~D

I just wish the same could be said of some doctors. Wouldn't it be great if those quacks never came back?? ;~D

i am not sure, but i think that if it was loud enough and in a room larger than9x9 metres, (the rules for echoes, (important bit->)**the object the sound bounces off has to be on average about 4.5 meters away for the human ear to be able to discern it from the original sound**, plus it just has to be loud enough to hear it well enough after it travels nine meters) if it still doesn't echoe after all this is taken into account it could just be the frequency (low pitched sounds travel further) that the quack is on. i hope that this answered your question, even though it was all mainly assumptions, it should have covered at least some ground anyway.

Good Ol' Snopes.com!!!

Ironic, I've been to that siite to confirm or deny all sorts of things, but I never even gave the Duck's Quack statement a second thought.

I guess there's no hope in preventing the Quack doctor from coming back either. ;~(

Mythbusters had proven that duck's quacks DO echo, but it sounds basically the same as the orginial, so it's "hidden".

Lol. It's funny to post information on anything related to sounds. It's like a blind person giving advice on colors.

Heh, it's true XX, maybe we should just record the quack of a duck echoing... but then again people are so suspecious they probably wont believe it until they have a written fancy explanationt supporting the theory.
