Problem Using ObjectDock

Objectdock plus 1.1 crashes everytime i try to open it. I have attempted numerous uninstalls and reinstalls, with various reboot combinations. Is there anything else i can try? i really like the tabed bar that plus comes with, is there any other program that offers this as well?

thanks
ben

Did you have the "free" version already installed whn you installed the Plus version? This seems to cause big problems with the plus versionLink

The first attempt i did was while the free version was installed. since that i have uninstalled all stardock apps and tried again with no success. The last thing i was attempting to do when it was working for the short period was to add the msn docklet. I read that it only works for 6.1 so i uninstalled msn 6.2 and installed 6.1 and now objectdock doesnt even open...

I don't use MSN so I'm afraid I can't help you with that. Do I understand correctly, after a complete uninstall-reinstall you did have it working for a short period?

at first it didnt work when i did the plus install over the free version. then i uninstalled both and installed plus and it worked for about an hour...then i tried adding the msn docklet and everytime i start up the program it waits a few mins (the systray icon appears) but the bars dont and then i get a "program has caused an error and must close" type of error message

diznuts1,

Deselect any options in ObjectDock Plus, DesktopX, and all Widgets that tell the program to run automatically at start-up which you have selected, then unload all programs (except Firewall and Anti-Virus) and set computer back to default theme including icons.

Uninstall ObjectDock Plus, reboot computer, go to "C:\Documents and Settings\"user account"\Local Settings\Application Data\Stardock" folder (where "C" is letter drive, and "user name" is name used in your computer when logged on) to see if there are any ObjectDockPlus or ObjectDock folders left, if so delete them (you may have to go to "Tools>Folder Options>View tab" and select "Show hidden files and folders", if you can't see the "Local Settings" folder above).

Also, after uninstall delete the "Program Files\Stardock\ObjectDock" folder.

This should clear any strange settings that are being remembered by OS.

Reinstall program and run it with defaut theme to verify that the program is correctly installed.

Note - if you have any images that you want to keep, copy them to say a folder in "My Documents" so you can move them back to the "Images" folder (or any folder you want to create at the same level as "Images" folder) in "Program Files\Stardock\ObjectDock".

I know it is a bit of a procedure, but this should clean all but the registry records of ObjectDock and give you a clean shot at a good install.

I hope this helps and apologize if you have already done all this.

Thanks for the adivce corky, i will do exactly that a little later tonight when i have free time.

I am curious tho, if anyone knows of anyother programs that offer the same tabbed interface as objectdoc +, I really liked that feature for the short time I had it...just incase objectdoc + decides it doesnt like my machine.

Thanks again.

If you follow Corky O's directions your machine will like OD+, Firefox is a Tabbed Browser, Wincustomize is a tabbed site. Seems to be catching on.

Clearly not as pretty or as useful, but Tab Launchpad, part of ObjectDesktop allows you to launch programs from a tabbed interface.
