T-Man: Download Count Totals and Ranking doesn't seem to match

I've been watching this for about a week to see if things would "catch up"....

Under the popular tab for Top Skin Author for ObjectDock Hall of Fame I show as rank 19 with 54088 downloads. Under my stats the same category shows rank 21 with 53962 downloads. I figured that the stats possibly lagged behind in counts, but if you look at the totals for rank 20 with 53471 downloads and rank 21 with 52639 downloads under the popular tabs, even with a lag on the stats page I should show the same ranking of 19 there as well...at least that's how it looks to me. No big deal, just wanted to point it out as a possible bug.

Essencay also noticed he finally broke the 100,000 total download threshhold and does a little dance.

What is going on with download counters? I find myself in great amazement,one day i get 300-400 downloads and the next 20-30 and goes on for the rest of the week like so.Cyberworld twists head but can't figure out why?

Congrats on the 100,000 Essencay.
I've emailed T-Man concerning this problem but not had a reply to date. Hopefully things will soon get sorted.

Essencay,

There is basically 2 reasons why the data is not being consistent.

1) Caching, the two different pages are caching  their content and different intervals. ie, your stats page is caching the skin stats for 6 hours and the hall of fame page is caching its content for 1 hour (I don't know the exact values).

2) The data that drives the Stats page is updated once a day.  The data that drives the hall of fame page is dynamically calculated (if it is not cached).

So yes, they will never really catch up to each other.  And yes, they should be the same and use the same data.  So we will be changing that so they both use data that is calculated once per day (same data that the stats page is using).
