The new Attorney General

Alberto Gonzalez is the new Attorney General. I like him and all that stuff but I do not see the importance of being the first Hispanic Attorney General have to do with anything. If he can do his job just as good as Ashcroft did, he will be a good Attorney General. With that, I bring up a new point> CONDI FOR PRES

Hi there. I take it from your name that you are a Republican teenager. If we're going along those lines, then I'm Demteen. But I digress.

Now, very soon you will have people either praising what you are saying or tearing you apart. 'Tis the ways of Joeuser. Eventually they will hijack the thread, and will argue back and forth eventually losing all coherency. Oh, and you can't stop it.

Give me a trolling if you must, I know this has no relevancy, but I think you should know what will happen.

Don't forget the sweeping generalizations about both sides, and me nearly vomiting...

I think the sweeping generalization for Republicans and other conservatives is something along the lines of jesus freak. I can't keep up with all the new ones that come up for liberals and Democrats. Loony loopy luddite is the latest, and at least it has some decent alliteration.

hmm..condi for pres...interesting...she is definitely intelligent enough, but lacks some credibility because of the WMDs

I do not see the importance of being the first Hispanic Attorney General have to do with anything.

I agree. First anything means nothing. Kim Campbell was a crappy Prime Minister, no matter whether she was the first female Prime Minister or not.

The importance is that if you oppose their being appointed then you are a rascist. At least that's what I've heard.

I do not oppose his nomination. I actually admire the guy for not backing down away from the nomination committe. Democrats accuse Republicans of being racist but there are multiple occasions that democrats have made racist statements. Most recently when Howard Dean had said and I quote "You think the Republicans could get this many people of color in a single room? Only if they had the hotel staff in here.” Oh but wait, what ever happened to Charlie Rangle. He had called all people from the south "Rednecks." Not all people in the south are "Rednecks". If a Republican ever said what those two people said, Democrats would be all over the Republicans demanding an apology. There is a double standard in this country. So your party is the RACIST party.

Whoa whoa whoa. Back away from the hostilities. I wasn't calling you or anyone else a racist. I'm just saying, there are alot of people (including a few here) who will call you racist if you oppose the nomination of the first black/hispanic/whatever anything.

What the hell? Ashcroft was terrible. He was always an emberssment. He lot a Senate race to a dead guy. He started the USA Patroit Act which was one of the wrost laws passed and that people didn't even read but rushed into voting beacuse of 9/11. Ashcroft was not good, and I hope for every one's sake Gonzalez does better.

You couldnt be more wrong. The Patriot Act has made this land safer in a time of war. We can seize anything of anybody's that is suspected of being a terrorist. Now if the terrorists were building weapons in their house and we couldn't get enough evidence to get a search warrant, would you feel safe if we could raid that house using federal agents. Well that is in the Patriot Act. Besides, if people hate the Patriot Act, doesn't Congress have the right to repeal an act.
