Stable wormholes and wormhole tech

The one think that i didn't like in GC1 was that wormholes where so pointless. They'd only send you a few sectors and then dissappear. Wouldn't it be cool if wormholes where more like resources rare but helpful. You find a stable wormhole and use it to your advantage guard it with a space station and travel across half the galaxy in a move. Not to many just one or two and even some unstable ones were you can lose ships, so you take a risk when exploring them. Who ever finds a wormhole would be able to expand from multiple direction.

Also it might be cool to have wormhole tech to research. Like the terror stars, what if you could create a device that creates stable wormholes. Obviously it would have to be something that uses up alot of resources to make it difficult to create. But it could be used as a weapon to move entire fleets in one move to where ever you want. What do you think?

*very* difficult to teach the AI to use it correctly. That will probably not be worth the hassle imho.

time it takes to send over more ships?

I question is critical but if these aspects could be handled then it is certainly something worth coding in the future.

not unbalancing even if hte ai doesn't use it (much) but fun anyway.
You could get htem controlled later on, but always give a chance (like 10%) that the wormhole will disappear and all the ships you sent through will vanish too.

s, plan for it. "doh!" is for dumb humans, who cannot time-travel.

This can also be troublesome. Empty boasts are worthless against a player, and thus have to be designed out of the options against the AI.
