EExtrasEE,

Assuming you have the proper programs installed (i.e., WindowBlinds, IconPackager, DesktopX, etc.), you should be able to do the following:

Check to make sure Theme Manager is set-up correctly to apply a suite and/or download directly and apply by A) starting the program and going to "Tools>Settings" and under the "Load" tab make sure "DesktopX" and "WindowBlinds" options are selected, and B) under the "General" tab make sure the "Automatically run files downloaded from the internet", and "Show preview when loading Suite (if available)" options are selected.

Now, on the left side of the dialog, select the "suites" option and just highlight one of the suites in the list, then click apply. This will start the process of application, which includes offering to download needed programs to apply the complete suite, asking you to verify that you want to apply the chosen suite, and applying it.

For suite download:

Go to WC and download a suite file. This should automatically install to the "C:\Documents and Settings\"user name"\Local Settings\Temporary Internet files" and prompt Theme Manager to start automatically which results in the Theme Manager configuration panel displaying, and if there is a preview available - the theme icon and name should now be listed alphabetically in the theme list. From here, follow the application procedure from above.

BTW, these instructions assume you are using either Windows XP or Windows 2000, which should be compatible with WindowBlinds and IconPackager at least. I believe the new version of DesktopX is only compatible with XP - so if you are running 2000, you may have some problems if the suite is a DX theme.

Hope this helps.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

The current version is 2.19.003, and is working fine. So if you are elligible for update, I would suggest that.

Other possible redundant methods if you can't upgrade:

1) "File>Open Suite"
2) Go to the Theme Manager directory and right-click on a .suite file in the "themes" folder and select "Apply theme".
3) The oldy but goody: Uninstall, Reboot, Reinstall.

Here is a list of the .dll and .ini files shown in my working Theme Manager (2.19.003) directory:

applications.ini, display.dll, inetconfig.dll, mssprv.dll, skin.dll

I would verify that these exist in the directory.

Other than a corrupt install, user account limitations, or a limiting setting somewhere in the system - I am at a loss.

I'm sure that someone more advanced than myself can be found to help.

Good luck.

I've downloaded the "latest" installer from Stardock, PCWorld, and several other sites, but it never updates Theme Manager to 2.19.003!

8thNote,

It may be because I ordered the Object Desktop snapshot CD at the end of the year, and that is what came on the disc.

Not sure on this one, just that the Help>About and SDC lists it as 2.19.003. If you are running the free version, I have recently read in a number of posts that the free version currently goes to version 2.11, it may be that purchasing the full suite gives a consumer the most up to date version?

Sorry I can't offer more info on this one.
