Industry, production and resources

I'm not sure if I read somewhere that in the game it will be possible to build factories, producing one or two different products from raw materials.
It would be nice to have industry build on more that one layer - maybe like
- the 1st level - mining, harvesting,
- the 2nd level - producing basic products (such as steel, for example)
- and the 3rd level- producing complex products, such as parts for the spaceship.
For every level of production to have several type of buildings which depend on what they extract/mine/produce.
My opinion is that the solution for the industry to be based on simply producing the shields or some equivalent to shields is to abstract. For real strategy decision it is cruical that the player's decisions depends deeply on the need of the industry and economy.
The products can be linked with the basic need of population, capability to build civilian buildings, or military one, equipment and so on. It could also enhance the trading between the empires.

of Galciv Ii is the no multiplayer feature. So the details must be kept simple ( = abstract) enough to allow to have solid AIs that can handle their planets WITHOUT CHEATING.

ich or barren planet? Imagine the possibillities with industry production where occupation of one, at the first look, insignificant planet can cripple all production of spaceships in the empire of 30-50 planets?

pabillities dependable on those buildings/mines/factories.
So, when you build one of special factory on one planet, the whole empire will benefit from it, and depend on that planet.

ory first, etc. If so it just sounds like annoying hassle to me. Strategic resource requirements to build specific improvements or ships is good, anything more than that will just bog the player down in micromanagement.

- to build some ships, or not. For example, to build the spaceship of the size of titan, you need to have extra strong material, for example, neutronium and neutronium mine, and that mine must be very expensive and sophisticated.

Uranium 235
Hydrocarbons
Iron (traditional, and also the element that nuclear fusion stops at)
Negative matter (different from antimatter)

as planned ... I don't remember exactly why this was cancelled, but I think it was because it wasn't as much fun as the developers hoped. I may be mistaken here though, my memory on that is very vague.

Please forgive me for my ignorance about materials, and do not condemn me if I made some mistake in my example.

f some kind of superconductor. With III shield technology, and one good factory, your empire will build ships with 25% stronger III shield.
There can be division of resources such as strategic, usefull and so on.

ficient for colony management.

right technology (how many research centres will I build) and on how quickly can you build it (how many factories will I build. The strategy is now there without any frustrating restrictions.

stop at this point? That's some tech, isn't it? Would be aggravating researching to that point on a gigantic map just so you can build something more then colonizers and scout ships though, wouldn't it?

landing a colonizer on a world, to survey it for possible colonization? The resulting behavior is a process of using colonizers for survey vessels by save-game, examine, restore and move on.

nvade or colonise.

ywhere around? Kind of got the requirement the wrong way. You should know a resources location when you can research the tech that needs it, and be able to research it only if you have that resource.

new colonies should not be allowed as it also encourages the colony rush. A more balanced expansion is definitely what I would like to see.

hs" that are tied to rare special resources. However the big hurdle is to teach the AI to evaluate and use those correctly.
