Help on tabbed backgrounds

So I have been digging around in the folders for tabbed backrounds and think I am figuring some things there out, but is there any good reasource on how to make these things? I would love to try my hand at it, but while I get the graphics, the .ini has my head spinning a little bit.

I agree. I have been looking to make some, but all those numbers can get intimidating.

Hiya BlueDev...take one of my backgrounds that has the style you want to do...normal tabs or what I call "embedded" tabs...and tear it apart. What I usually do when I'm making a new background is take either my AlphaOS or Grizzle III background and start by replacing the graphics for one of the dock positions and the tabs for that position...usually the dock for the top of the screen. Then I just keep tweaking it until I get the tabs to line up right. After that, the other three positions are easy to make. Since I mostly make and prefer "embedded" tabs, I've found adding empty space to the sides of the tab buttons makes them easier to work with. If you need any help let me know. We need more folks making tabbed backgrounds

Same help offer to you Island Dog Once you get one done and understand how the tags affect the images, they're not to hard to do.

Thanks for your advice Essencay (you were just the one I was hoping would respond!). I will give it a try today and see what I can do with it. If I have any questions I will drop you a line here in this thread. Thanks again.

im just curious: ive used a computer for the last eight years of my life. . .only as a typewriter with a screen. when email became popular, i thought of my computer as a typewriter with a screen and a telephone.

recently, i decided i wanted to learn how to build websites. i didnt have a business in mind, i just wanted to learn. i discovered that the html was both easy and difficult. the basics are about as basic as things get, and i started to feel pretty good about myself. but i kept running into difficulties everywhere. at some point, it seemed like i needed a graphics designer, but it kept confusing and screwing up my html. javascripts and style sheets went out of their way to confuse me. and now i feel like im farther behind in computer lore than i was before i started this project.

so i apologize for asking inappropriate questions that likely have nothing to do with this thread, but what are tabbed backgrounds?

i guess the real question is this: is there some resource i can go to without shelling out much (any) dough to learn about these basic computer terms, operating systems and functions? i guess html probably was the wrong place to start.

any help would be wonderful.
