Kerry Cites Suppressed Votes in Election
I'll leave readers to check out the entire article on their own.
The part that makes me want to give a "just shut up award" to Sen. Kerry (like his friends in the Democratic party) is this:
"Voting machines were distributed in uneven ways. In Democratic districts, it took people four, five, 11 hours to vote, while Republicans [went] through in 10 minutes -- same voting machines, same process, our America," he said.
It just doesn't seem to occur to this idiot, and his party mates, that IN MOST CASES it's the fault of the local elections officials - most of whom are DEMOCRATS - that more machines weren't requested and in place. If the requests weren't answered, fine, show the evidence and I'll join the complaints. But, up until now, there's been no demonstrable proof that the local election officials thought ahead to take advantage of the Help America Vote act that was passed following the 2000 election cycle.
Instead of putting effort into fixing the problems by requesting grant money, demanding funding from state governments, or otherwise working to get the equipment they need, we have people complaining about the long lines to use too few machines.
I'm also continuing to be peeved at the assumptions that only Democratic voters have been disenfranchised, and that Republicans had it easy. I waited to vote like many others, and it's probably pretty obvious what direction I voted in. I don't expect voting to be a process that only takes a few minutes (though it should). I look at voting as a responsibility and a priviledge. The wait is just part of the admission price I pay for that.
Meanwhile, I guess I should prepare myself for another round of pocket picking by the Democrats who will have to find more tax money to throw at this "continued problem", which will of course happen until they can somehow win another national election....
