What Bush Should Really Regret Saying

An Associated Press article (Link)
outlined the two comments that Bush had some regrets for making because of their, "unintended consequences." The comments he was referring to were the famous "bring 'em on," and his suggestion that he wanted Bin Laden "dead or alive."

We could debate these comments to death but I think what he should really regret is his comment about the comments quoted at the end of the article.

Recalling the Bin Laden remark, Bush said Thursday: "I can remember getting back to the White House, and Laura said, 'Why did you do that for?' I said, 'Well, it was just an expression that came out. I didn't rehearse it.'

My God, I hold 2nd graders to higher grammar standards.

Well well well... he still hasn't learned to use his best grammer when in front of 14 journalists.

These sound bites are what I occaisionally ramble on about. They don't count as an intelligent plan to fight the war on terror; all they do is try to make candidate A look tough on terror, so he can defeat candidate B. However, sound bites are all candidate A has because he just says "let's kick terrorist ass" without actually thinking about their motives (If I hear "they hate our freedom" once more, I will puke), the root causes of terrorism, or working with allies.

Dude, relax, I'm not making any claim about how "The Right" is stupid just because Bush very humorlessly mangles sentences. Loosen up homey...it's Friday for God's sake.

graduated from Harvard biz school and belongs to same {skull and bones} frat hanoi john kerry does.... is hanoi john equally stupid?

Note the little laughing smiley. I should have worded that differently. I meant he says a lot of stupid stuff. I have a desk calendar of his quotes, and they give me a good laugh every morning. Come to think of that, with a year's worth of stupid stuff, and he's only been in the public eye for about 5 years, that has to be saying stupid stuff once every 5 days.

No, I haven't had the opportunity to try them. My favorite so far is the baked potato on the fire. Just wrap 'em in tin foitl, throw 'em in the fire, and wait. Take them out, and eat them with salt and butter.

What's with all the double posts Moderateman and Latour, can't you guys reply to more than one person in the same comment?

Boo~ where's the Friday Freewrite?

Maybe I misread your original comment about Ted Kennedy, but it seemed like you were claiming I was taking a shot at The Right as a whole so you needed to shoot back at The Left.

Back to the issue ...

'Recalling the Bin Laden remark, Bush said Thursday: "I can remember getting back to the White House, and Laura said, 'Why did you do that for?' I said, 'Well, it was just an expression that came out. I didn't rehearse it.' '

So are we sure that Dubya misquoted his wife? If not, then perhaps it's Laura who should regret the grammatical pratfall, not George.

Don't get me wrong, I'm no Dubya fan, but it's not as though he doesn't make enough slips on his own account ...

Or maybe he's trying to make Laura sound stupid and take him out of the misspeak spotlight.
