"I never used to have any problems before a few weeks ago." I assume that you have CursorXP installed? https://www.stardock.com/products/cursorxp/

How do they download (what is the extension of the files you download?). Is it CurXPTheme or is it zip? To see your extensions open WindowsExplorer > Tools > Folder Options > View > and untick 'hide extensions for known file types'.

If they are CurXPTheme just double click on them and they should install fine

If they are zip then that might mean one of two things;

1) the author has bundled several cursors into one file, or included a permission (txt) file in the upload: just unzip the file and double click on the individual CurXPTheme files.

2) You have recently upgraded to SP2 and Windows now just downloads everything as a zip: in that case unzip the file first. If you see no CurXPTheme in there (but a bunch of other files) just rename the zip-file to CurXPTheme (right-click on the file and rename). You can then double click on it to install it. If you see CurXPTheme-files in the unzipped folder then number 1 does apply.

If they download as CurXPTheme files, but double clicking does not install them, try to move the CurXPTheme file to your C:\program files\CursorXp\Themes folder.

If none of the above works, you might have to unistall (but make sure you back up your cursors first) and reinstall.

every once in a while, there is a cursorxp theme in a cursorxp theme - i don't know why - but - change the extension to .zip and look inside - if there is a theme in there, then unzip and double click the one inside.

some downloads should actually come in as a .zip since they may have more than one theme inside.
