Shi Lanka declines Israels offer of aid By: Moderateman Posted: Wednesday, January 05, 2005 on Ramblings of a twisted mind Message Board: Politics Oh my....... what unmitagated GAUL of the shi lankan gov. to decline help from a world source... This goes to show you the deep seated HATRED people have for the Jews.... This is like a street bum throwing YOUR money back in your face because he does not like how you look, or the money is not enough, or too dirty. How many more humilities must the jews suffer at the hands of lunitic religious fanatics? This is a case of Israel reaching out {kinda like the right reaching out to the left} and having there hand bit off!!! I think the united states should withdraw all offers of aid for sri lanka till they get a grip on there hatred and policies. Let them get by by all the muslim countries donations {1.87 us} last time I looked.

If this is truly the case then let em stave. When your down and out you don't tell someone trying to help to get lost.

Really a shame; to turn down assistance because of religious differences. The Moslems there really have no stake in Isreali-Palestinian affairs, anyway. That makes it all the more ludicrous.
Of course, you have to give them props, you know? They're holding the line, at least.

Hatred for/ or disagreement with Israel is not necessarily hatred for the Jews. It is hatred against Israel.Sri Lanka is not a Muslim country by definition, there are quite a number of Buddhists and Christians living there.

How many more humilities must the jews suffer at the hands of lunitic religious fanatics?

Don't create situations Mod... Israel is the type of country that helps others in time of crisis... and I guarantee you that our aid will be givin to Sri Lanka whether they like it or not...Ve hev our veys

Well, yeah, but aren't there Christians and Moslems living in the "Jewish State" of Isreal? There are Jews, Moslems, Buddhists, Hindus, Hare Krishnas, Moonies, just about everything here in the "Christian" US. It's whatever is the predominate religion in a nation that defines its religious identity.

Yes, Israel is a Jewish State.. The minorities that live here are guaranteed full rights of every citizen. The question of Palestine does not enter this picture as those Moslems/Christians that live in Israel proper are Israeli citizens.
Therefore, again I say, to be against Israel is not necessarily being against Jews.

Considering Middle Eastern Islamic nations are lukewarm about donating to any charity not involving blowing up Israeli civilians, I guess the Sri Lankans are sh*t out of luck...

Maybe if they promised to bludgeon a Jew with the canned food before they ate it they might get the attention nations like Syria and Saudi Arabia...

You're blowing things out of proportion here. Sri Lanka has accepted the Israeli aid but has asked them not to send 60 soldiers with the aid.

Indonesia turned down some British Gurka aid from Brunei as well. The reason being because it needed the helicopters (which it accepted) but not the troops (as it had lots of it's own). Do you see the UK government getting upset or accusing Indonesia of being anti British?

Sri Lanka has done the exact same thing with Israel. Accepted the aid but not the extra 60 soldiers with the aid as it doesn't need them.

Big deal. Lets stop with the everyone hates Israel attitude,

I remember those words well Mod... but the fact that we suffered does not give us licence to inflict suffering on others. Perhaps if we stopped building walls and treating Palestinians as sub humans the rest of the Moslem world might reassess their positions towards us, as a people and as a nation.

This might be so...but one does not always associate it the other way around...lots of Jews (most in fact) live outside of Israel and are productive citizens for the most part.

Let me say it again, Sri Lanka refusing the offer of Israeli troops had nothing to do with them being Jewish. They were very grateful for the medical personel and aid which they accepted. Stop trying to turn this into an anti semite slight, it wasn't. Even worse, this is a country with only 7% muslims. There are more muslims in Israel! So to suggest this is a muslim country refusing Jewish aid is very very wrong.

So, apparently the U.S. isn't as universally hated as some would have us believe. I haven't seen many countries turn down aid from us after a disaster... military, monetary or otherwise! ;~D
