Can't get up/downloading speeds

I'm at wits end. I'm trying to get graphical meters 2 to display my up/downloading sppeds but when I switched from dialup to cable modem I lost this capability. When I try to create a connection I get a message saying it can't connect to machine. I've tried turning off all the firewalls, etc. with no results. I've looked at all the system parameters I could think of and still nothing. In the selection box (DesktopX - graphical performance meters 2) I do not see an option for network. I have RAS options but they only work for dialup. Any ideas?

hmmm, not sure about DX specifically, but sysmetrix meters are aware of my net card and I can hook to that. Doesn't DX have that same option?

aware of my net card

That is the key provided that the cable modem connects via ethernet (which is reasonably common).

Note that you'll also register any LAN activity if you have other PCs connected. This leads to scaling problems between displaying LAN traffic and WAN traffic since they are still order(s) of magnitude apart.

Is anyone aware of an auto-scaling DX or even sysmetrix/sysstats meter that works like NetMeter http://readerror.gmxhome.de/ ?
