Diplomacy - cause and effect

Reading the Galciv 2 concept thread on the GC1 forum I came across some interesting ideas from Gabriel Gauthier which got me thinking.

I'd love to see more cause and effect to diplomacy. I'd like to see lots more diplomatic interaction where relations between races can be improved or damaged through random or real events.

For example, I'd like to see

- pop-ups from another empire offering to connect a trade route to my empire in return for x (credits, alliance, trade route in return, techs ...)
- pop-ups from another empire asking for me to connect my new trade route to them in return for x
- diplomatic messages where you choose action A,B or C in return for changing relations by X, Y or Z for various costs (eg. crisis at planet in Yor empire, send X aid for Y increase in relations).
- diplomatic messages where you can gain relations with X but loose with race Y (eg. choose to support side A or B in an arguement.)
- ship placement and movement affecting relations (eg. Please move your ships away from planet X; yes- moves all ships within 6 squares of X to nearest planet, + to relations; no creates - to relations)
- requests from other races to reduce military might (yes -> scrap X ships, increase relations by Y)
- requests to increase military might from allies (yes-> increase relations)

Basically, I'd like to see far more flavour to the game being created by choices the player makes, both through actions and in response to diplomatic overtures.

one or for someone, it's probably good. I thought that was already the case (or is that only in moo)?
Requesting that the ai takes ships off of one sector is needed. If the ai can ask it, then I must be able to do the same.

one or more freighters early on. Relations go to warm, and he'll set up a route with me. Preferably several economic ties that will make him dependent on friendly relations, or at least very expensive to go to war with me.

> The ai should break alliances. When you break an alliance, the ai has oftenbeen quite cross in my experience.
