Internet Mail Checker

Is there such a thing?

I just got a gmail account last night, and I was wondering if there is a DX object or widget that can notify you when you get mail in an online email account. I was hunting through some of the widgets and objects, and I'm not seeing one, or I'm just missing this. Is this possible? It seems to me that if you can download news, you can possibly have a notifier download some incoming notification. Or, is this just too insecure and risky?

TIA for an answer

There are a number of mail checkers. Here are the ones that are widgets. Here are ones that are objects.

But based on the ones I have used there is one problem you are going to run into. Gmail requires a secure connection (SSL) to access its POP3 functionality, and I haven't found one of these widgets that can do that (but I may have missed it, it wouldn't surprise me). So for now your best bet is to use Gmail's "notifier".

Thanks, BlueDev. I was actually unfamiliar with gmail's "notifyer". I'll have to go check it out. I'm still in learning mode............
