Wallpapers are moderated. If you click on 'My Skins' tab at the top right corner you should be able to see if the wallpaper is waiting for approval. If it doesnt appear on the list, it means it didnt pass moderation.

Hi Acphonehome,

I've managed to get numerous bootskins, logons, OD icons, and even my first WindowBlind skin past the moderators. The wallpapers are a different story. I've submitted more wallpapers than anything else, and the only one to ever make it past moderation was one that went with my WindowBlinds. I've had wallpapers turned down for the same bootskins and logons that were approved. I thought they were pretty good, but the fact they didn't make it, let me know they weren't as good as I thought they were. The bar is set pretty high here at WinCustomize for the quality of work. I don't take the rejections personally. I just try to make my work better, so it will pass the moderators here. The fact is some of my rejected stuff here, has been approved on other skinning sites. I looked at the number of items, and the quality of work on these other sites, and it wasn't near as many or near as good as the items here. I guess the end thing to keep in mind, is that it is better to have a few paintings shown in the Louvre, than all your stuff at Billy Joe Bob's Corner Museum.

On the other side of the coin, I'd like to say to the moderators here, that as we submit work for approval, we are sitting on pins and needles. Just waiting five days to see if it shows up or not, is frustrating. I think that notifying people their work didn't make it past approval, would be a reasonable courtesy. At least we would know, rather than just waiting in suspense.

I know from personal experience that moderating, and rejecting people's art work tends to make some tempers flare. I did it on a gif animation site receiving about 3 million hits a month. Each person with a rejection wants a complete explanation of why, and the chance to rebutt the opinion. It is not reasonable for the moderators here to have to do that. It might just be a policy you send either an approval or a rejection notice with no reason why on either. Post that analysis as to why a post did or did not make it will not be replied to.

We used to do that....till several moderators were so disillusioned by insulting responses they were prompted to 'resign'.  The solution was to 'keep' the moderators and 'lose' the rejection emails.

Unfortunately the recalcitrant and obnoxious ruined the service for all...

I've also had my wallpaper rejected. But its not something I really mind because the fun of it is making them. and if you like your wallpaper then really what does it matter? Just keep up the good work and eventually something will get accepted. Good Luck and hope to see some of your work.

I've submitted 10 wallpapers, 6 logons, and 2 bootskins and none show up in MySkins. I also can't get them to load on my Personal cite, and it's blank...getting hits everyday.

eh failed walls happen. Ive submitted quite a few. Over time i went from 1 in 3 getting accepted to every 1 in 6 getting rejected. All it takes is practice. Teaches ya to polish your product.

I, personally, can say that every wall that I've submitted to WinC has been rejected. Every other skin I've submitted (all forty-seven) has been accepted. Walls are a tricky buisness. Dont think of it as rejection though...think of it as an oppourtunity to improve your work.

Well i submitted 2 10 days ago so i'm guessing theyr'e not going to be put on display I know my walls weren't about to win any awards but have you seen some of the ones that go through?????

I'm not bitter.

One question i'd like to ask is when you submit a wall it states a bitmap image in a zip file which i assumed meant a bmp file. But this file is usually massive (over 2mb) and when i have downloaded walls from this site before they've been mostly jpg's.
Do the wincustomize people change them into jpg's?

GreyMack, you can either submit them as a jpeg, or as a zipped bmp (to reduce the size).  We do not alter any of the files, so what you upload is what gets posted.
