Squigly personal icon. Need help creating image.

I can't seem to create a personal icon without it looking like &^%# when it is resized to 50 x 50. At 256 x 256 it looks great. No matter what size I make it, it looks really bad when it appears on this site. What am I doing wrong? 256 x 256. 72pixels/inch 24bit. Why so squiggly? Anyone?

Well, I softened the snot out of it and that seemed to help. If anyone has any good imput, I would appreciate it.

I made my personal icon last night, in PSP7... I tried different sizes at first and the smaller ones looked poopy, the final size of what you see now was 400x400... While not the best looking that I've done, it's more clear then the smaller attempts at 24bit color. I did notice that if it was 'sharpened' it looked bad also. I couldn't figure that one out lol

Thanks SamuelAdams. I may try the 400 x 400. I went with the 256 x 256 because that is what danilloOc suggested and his stuff is off the chain.

Why not create the image 50x50 since that's what it will be on the site? No resizing issue then.

Tried it. I think the image was too sharp. I'm ok with it the way it is now. Thanks Koasati
