The desktop search doesn't seem to be fully functional yet. Neat idea, for people who search for things.

It would seem the main goal here is to abstract the file system entirely. Make searching fast enough that it's easier to type the filename and hit enter than it is to click through the start menu or explorer windows.

That is, if searching turns up any results. I let it index my drive and it still found nothing. let's see what future releases bring.

Another lame attempt from Microsoft to compete with Google...

meh, I'll stick with Google Desktop Search.

Yea, they're a little behind. Google is good, also been using the one by Copernic, works pretty good too.

Just on the Google Desktop Search make sure you are using version 121,004 or higher. The previous version has a security flaw which could allow an attacker to search the contents of your PC via the internet without your knowledge.

Hmm...I saw a Mac OS X Tiger WindowBlinds skin that had the Spotlight icon next to the clock, this would make that useful, wouldn't it? Would it be possible to make the toolbar as a "Start" type menu?
