I Need A DECENT MP3 Player...

In general I use ObjectMedia, but it can only play about 75% of my MP3s. So when I'm listening to the ones it can't play I'm completely lost. WinAmp and Sonique randomly decide at times to use 60% of my processor. I can't stand MediaPlayer's interface at all, their whole playlist system and whatnot is idiotic. I've tried so many of the obscure players such as PlayNak, which would be well and fine if it supported drop and drag on the play list, or hell any way to add multiple MP3s to a playlist with out needing to browse through an endless directory structure everytime. Not to mention most of the lesser known MP3 players are incapable of sorting by track or hell even file name. I mean really is it asking too much for a player to be decent without being excessive, like WinAmp and the likes. I really couldn't care less if my media player has its own skinning system... Bah... sorry this is a bit ranty, but I'm fed up with this.

A decent player for free is dbPoweramp

http://www.dbpoweramp.com/

Now a really decent single file player is Media Player Classic

http://sourceforge.net/projects/guliverkli/

Now This is a Nice program for several reasons. You can also get from the Developers a real Media Alternative (for FREE) and a Quicktime alternative (also for FREE), not to mention that is has a native mpg/mpeg decoder built into itself. I find it does a great job playing movies, Divx (installed codec yourself), Xvid (ditto codec).
Small compact and packed full of features, and great for the price.

Maybe we should start a Section @ WC for Free Applications to be cataloged and reviewed. Seems most of the people here, are pretty good, cream of the crop types, and know what a good piece of software should be like. Most everyone here, can give at least one or two good pieces.

There's one called Foobar that seems to be gaining a bit of popularity, and is very good on memory.
Don't have a link but a few folk here use it, so perhaps one of them can link to it here.

Woo thank you Hippy, this appears to be exactly what I was looking for. For the life of me I don't get why so many media players are skinable.

Thanks to everyone else for your input as well.

Really like Foobar, also works with ObjectBar once you make your own controls plus theres a script for DesktopX which I use a fair bit "Foobar Now Playing" http://www.web-site-and-graphic-design.com/desktopx.htm

Quite a fair but of controls in Foobar which is neat, quite alot of options to choose from.

Probably because skinning is fun, and fairly popular............ go figure.
