What is Quick launch Dock?

Is it a standalone app? How is it different from Object Dock?

I searched this site for an explanation of what Quck Launch is, but I haven't found a description of it. 

Is it a dock similar to Object Dock?  If so, how is it different?

I'm asking because I've run into a couple of strange happenings with the Object Dock trial (I clicked in a blank space on a dock, and all the shortcuts in it vanished), so I'm wondering if there's something more stable, easier to use.

It was mentioned in the Object Dock thread when I asked about the grass theme, and was told it's available only on Quick Launch (or on the Quick Launch dock).

I searched for it on this website before posting, and found posts going back a number of years.

Got it, please refer to my screenshot below. There is two types of Dock in ObjectDock. Quicklaunch Dock and Tabbed Dock.
