Broken Invasion Resolve/Soldiering Buffs/Debuffs and Incorrect Galactapedia Info

https://steamcommunity.com/app/1357210/discussions/0/730280430941630389/

I just started playing GC4 recently and just completed 4 Planetary invasions.

I have found the following issues with the Galactapedia and in-game info as well as invasion-related buffs/debuffs:

  1. The Galactapedia entry for Sieges states "Core Worlds can only be besieged by Transports". I just tested this in my game and this statement is incorrect. I was able to capture a Core World using only a fleet with 3 Siege ships
  2. In the same Galactapedia entry for Sieges, it also states "Time to capture them is based on the Resolve of the Soldiers on the Transport". I have tested this and Troop Transports provide a flat 50 Conquest Rating. I tried loading pop with different Resolve values to Transports and it had zero effect on Conquest Rating for the Troop Transport
  3. I noticed that the hover over info for a Soldier specialist state "Soldiers increase a planet's Resistance and Soldiering based on their Resolve stat". I don't see *any* bonuses to Soldiering when sieging planets either for the Soldiers on Troop Transports attacking or by Soldier specialists defending the planet, and Resolve doesn't have any effect on Soldiering (only Planetary Defense). Also, unrelated to invasions, but I will mention it here, Soldiers have NO effect on the Resistance level of a planet.
  4. Citizens with either the Pacifist trait (-3 Soldiering) or Warforged trait (+3 Soldiering), do not apply these Soldiering modifiers when attacking or defending a planet.

I have only played the Terran so far using the Steam version 3.10 of GC4 Supernova.

Note to devs: Not all of us are GC4 veterans - I'm still a GC4 noob, so I encourage fixing all in-game and wiki documentation errors and fix or remove the broken invasion mechanics, since it makes it confusing for new players to learn how to play

Thanks Draver. Can you please explain what a community team is and its relationship to Stardock? I thought by posting here Stardock would gather player bug reports directly for resolution in upcoming releases?

What we call the Development team and helpers like the Moderators

Check out the Discord to see more in-depth discussion of problems and fixes

In other words, Draver is going to inform the people who can figure out and fix your problem

Community team does sound as if it's a local sports club rather than a development team/person...

Since the post was about invasions/transports I should mention I think the "community team" should drop the 500 max defense cap entirely or have a much larger cap.  I saw a similar post on steam which is much more active than these forums.  It makes more warmonger style races bonuses a lot less compelling/useful than they should be.

This game is in desperate need of polish after the last DLC and buggy patches.  I haven't played it in months because of the current poor state of the game, when can we expect the next "community team" insiders update?

As mentioned by gypsy the "community team" is the team of people that interact directly with the player base in order to gather feedback and help players with the various issues they run into. Depending on the nature of the interaction, that information can be passed along to the development team by senior members of the community team. The development team can then make an assessment of the various issues and feedback and decide how to tackle them based on limited available development resources. Not everything reported and shared can be addressed sadly, as development resources are finite, and the team behind GC4 is rather small.

So you are correct that posting your bug report here, and even on Steam as you had already done, will be read, catalogued and shared by members of the community team especially when one of the moderators answers one of your post as I did above as well as on Steam.

As for the particular issue of the 500 defense cap, I agree that it should be modified, if only by exposing it to the XMLs so we could mod it upwards and play test various values. It's a very old request that was made a long time ago, sadly there hasn't been any available dev resources to tackle it, yet!

OK thanks for the explanation Draver. I realize not everything can be fixed but hopefully all reported bugs can be added to the dev's development backlog, and perhaps some bugs that are "low hanging fruit" can be fixed in an upcoming update.
