Offline Activation effort for Start11 does not write .req file

I am trying to activate Start11's 30-day free trial on a machine not connected to the Internet.
My intention is to buy the lifetime license upon setting Start11 up, before allowing Internet access.

The FAQ states:

The offline activation can be manually triggered by holding Shift + ~ (tilde) when on the activation window 1st appears

which I did, and got the “Save Activation Request” screen, which appears to save a “Start11 v2.req” file, but does not actually create the file. I tried both the machine's HDD and a USB thumb drive, but neither got a file.

There is no error message or explanation why no file was actually created.

Can a free trial be started and activated offline, or do I need to pay the $15 first, to get a registration code, and verify that offline?

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Not sure if offline work for free trials. I just tested on my account and the .req file created without issue. Perhaps do the trial on a internet available system.

Thank you,

Follow-up: I purchased a license key, then entered that for the offline activation, which did work.

A helpful suggestion that you might want to add to the FAQ about the topic is that your site has an “Order History” page that has a downloadable CSV file of our product key, which is a more reliable way to enter it than typing by hand from the receipt e-mail.
