Animation Failure on new laptop

Intel(R) Core(TM) Ultra 9 288V, 3300 Mhz, 8 Cores, 8 Logical Processor(s) with 32.0 GB of memory, Intel(R) Arc(TM) 140V GPU (16GB)

Hello,

I have had Deskscapes app for many years and it has performed well on a couple different machines through the years.  Recently I purchased a new Dell laptop with a Intel(R) Core(TM) Ultra 9 288V, 3300 Mhz, 8 Cores, 8 Logical Processor(s) with 32.0 GB of memory and 1T of disk space.  Video adapter is a Intel(R) Arc(TM) 140V GPU (16GB).
Now, when I attempt to run any of my dream animation files it displays the first static slide but does not animate.
Note: If I turn on any of the Deskscape internal animations, like water or rain, these work fine.  Just no movie animation.  I'm hoping this is just a setting issue.
Does anybody have any ideas?

Thanks,

Mark Jones

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Please try purge and reinstall steps as mention here : [Link]. Just make sure to redownload the latest version from your account page. Reboot after the purge. Reinstall and reboot again after the installation. Retest and report back here.

If the issue still appear need few more details.

  1. Windows 10/11 full version and OS Build number. Please use Winver.exe to get these numbers.
  2. Deskscape full version number installed.

Thank you,

Hello again,

Windows 11 Home Build 26200

Deskscapes 8 (8.51)

--------------------------------------

Let me list what I have done so far;

Uninstalled Deskscapes

Rebooted

Ran the DSPurge.bat file

Rebooted

Installed a newly downloaded Desksacpes 8 app (8.51)

Observations;

Still does not animate a dream animation file.

Interesting though, if I turn on the screensaver mode in DS and preview the dream I get interesting behavior.

Namely, the animation on my primary laptop screen animates and something odd on my secondary monitor.

On the secondary monitor I get an outer border of the static image and a working animation window that's about 80% of the full window in the center of the display. Very strange.

I opened the Intel Graphics Software that supports the on-board Intel graphics chip, and tried changing some basic settings like HDR and GPU Scaling.  Though these had some effects on the display output, there was no positive effect on the playing of the animation.

I am a senior software engineer with 30+ years of experience and this is looking like behavior I see when a new graphics chip comes out from the manufacturer.  Just a guess though.

I hope this information helps :)

Thanks for the support,

Mark

I was able to resolve my issues with Deskscapes not playing properly by installing the K-lite Codec Pack from https://codecguide.com/
