Start11 Issue with Stuttering

Taskbar full of folders??

Lately my PC will randomly start lagging. I'll notice my mouse starts to stutter and then all my programs start lagging and freezing. Then I'll see my Start11 task bar fill with tons of folder icons (on both monitors) and then they remove gradually and my PC is back to normal. What is going on here? I've tried reformatting 3 times to narrow down the issue and now I have nothing installed but Start11. Screenshot provided: https://imgur.com/a/4lP8KQC

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. First, please try, uninstall Start11, reboot immediately (important), download latest version available in your account product download page: https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products. Install it, reboot immediately again. Retest it and report back.

If the issue still appear. Need to know few more things.

  1. Windows 10 or 11? Also need its full version and OS Build number. Please use Winver.exe.
  2. Start11 full version number installed.
  3. If you have Windows 10/11 Pro version please do a Sandbox test and see if the issue appear while in there. Refer here for steps: https://support.stardock.com/space/SHC/1416855562/Testing+Start+in+Sandbox

Do you have anything which might be changing your wallpaper on a timer or light/dark mode?

It looks like a lot of setting changed messages are being sent for some reason which would be why apps stall as they have to process all those notifications.

I don't believe a sandbox would be any different as I mentioned I've reformatted 3 times now and the issue persists. This is before any other programs are installed or settings (other than what's saved to my windows profile) are changed.

Nothing like that. Static image wallpaper, screensaver set to none, nothing on a timer.

I believe, if the issue still appear within Sandbox, that is really strange. Perhaps, just to be sure, do the Sandbox test.
