Isolate New Sticky Notes from OneNote

So Microsoft has decided to make Sticky Notes a part of OneNote instead of maintaining a standalone app. This change, in turn, forces Sticky Notes to be grouped with other OneNote instances in Groupy. Does anyone know if there is a workaround to exclude Sticky Notes?

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Perhaps remove OneNote from AutoGrouping

I actually *love* having Groupy enabled for OneNote in general. It's not on you guys that Microsoft screws it up by integrating Sticky into OneNote without native tab support, but I was just hoping that there is an advanced solution that can be utilized to isolate it.

I am able to open Sticky Notes without opening OneNote using the shortcut you show in your post.

If you open Sticky Notes (new) before opening OneNote, it won't be grouped with OneNote.

If you open Sticky Notes (new) using your shortcut after OneNote is already open, it will always group with OneNote (changing the size of the window to the Sticky Notes window size).

You can also use the suggestion from Basj, but you will have manually group your OneNote windows.

I believe Sticky Notes (new) has always been run as part of the OneNote code. Microsoft just added a button to open it in OneNote. If you think about it, Sticky Notes (new) works exactly like OneNote.

You can still download the legacy Sticky Notes app from the Microsoft Store if wanted to go that route.

Hope this helps.

Thank you. Guess I will have to live with it then. Legacy Sticky Notes was what I was using previously, but it has been crashing more frequently with recent windows updates.

Yes, Windows is becoming less stable everyday. Microsoft is creating a real mess for everyone.
