Here we go again. Got a reminder on my windows screen that Fences had a new upgrade to v 6. so I buy it. And the product key I get from them is my old one. Is Fastspring a registered Stardock dealer or a scam? I am sorely tempted to get rid of all my Stardock products because the same thing happened last year.

Sorry to hear you are having issues. First, go to your product download page and see if Fences 6 got listed in there: https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products. If it is in there, the Product key should also there.
If it does not appear in there, perhaps something went wrong while purchase was done. Perhaps it was registered under different email address. Please raise support ticket using the link below, use the product not receive option. Include all information details. Remember to record down the ticket number for future reference if needed. Do not raise multiple ticket, that will make your ticket back to the end of the line. Send once and wait. Ticket will be answer by the order they send in.
